On July 28, the 17 session of the Media Mobility Hub – a two-week internship at leading Kyiv newsrooms for students of journalism – came to an end.
The Hub participants were to come to the capital on April 1, but the COVID-19 pandemic made modifications to the original plan. They spent the three months studying and keeping in touch via Zoom.
On July 14, fifteen Media Mobility Hub participants arrived to do their internship. For two weeks, they not only worked in the newsrooms, but also met with well-known personalities.
On the day of awarding certificates, the program participants were addressed by: Svitlana Zalishchuk, a well-known journalist and public figure, Dmytro Tuzov, NV Radio host, and Christopher Atwood of BBDO.
“Overall, the Hub provided an opportunity to evaluate yourself differently, discovering something new in terms of personal qualities, strengthening your vision of yourself in certain things or overturning your prejudices toward your own self.
First, each day I spent in the newsroom gave me an understanding of the responsibility borne by journalists, even those writing information notes for one minute of a radio broadcast. Second, I realized that the strength of true journalists also lies in their being aware of the same responsibility for our knowledge of this wild world,” Roman Kulish, doing his internship at NV Radio, shares his impressions.
