On March 6, the first event took place as part of the 12 Months of Resilience program. The project aims to start a tradition of creating peer support groups for journalists in Ukraine, which hopefully will pave the way for and help obtain this external source of resilience.
One of the characteristics of peer support groups is getting the participants to self-learn. We therefore propose that our participants immediately begin in the practical realm and get immersed into peer support, studying similar experiences in Ukraine or abroad in a way familiar to journalists, i.e. by writing a journalistic piece.
Valentyna Parobiy, president of the Ukrainian Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and supervisor accredited by the European Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, became the program’s first guest. She shared her experience of participating in peer support groups and spoke about the value of having a source of external support for professional development in general and individual psychological resilience of journalists in particular.
We would like to remind that the 12 Months of Resilience program is for journalists and it will continue until June. Its participants will create and develop their own peer support groups among journalists.
This program is implemented with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and the European Union as part of the Humanity and Mutual Assistance humanitarian initiative.
