From July 7 to July 21, students at journalism schools from across Ukraine did their internships in the capital’s leading newsrooms under the Media Mobility Hub program.
The internship was arranged for the nineteenth time by Souspilnist Foundation together with Internews Ukraine and with the support of Detector Media.
The program for the young journalists was to start back in April, but due to COVID-19 related challenges, the training went online: for three months, the Hub participants learned from the experience of leading Ukrainian journalists. Specifically, Andriy Hetman, editor-in-chief of ICTV’s international program “Facts”, Dmytro Tuzov, host at NV Radio, and Anna Babinets, head of the independent investigative agency Slidstvo.Info told about and showed all the ins and outs of newsroom work.
During their two-week internship, the students worked in the newsrooms, also taking part in other training workshops, e.g. the Online Debate Media Production School.
“Having spent 14 days at UA:PBC, I once again understood how much I love TV journalism. And even more so those people working so you can watch news, interesting stories, interviews every day, and learn about the most important things as quickly as possible.
What happened during those days? Different things. Preparing the knowledge base, two filmings during my first day, topics for news stories, looking for characters, interesting sites, editing stuff till 8 p.m. and a great experience of creating stories”, said Nataliia Zasiadko from Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University sharing her experience.
In the end, the participants were awarded certificates for successfully completing their journalism internship.
We would like to remind you that July 23 is the deadline for the selection of participants for the 20th Media Mobility Hub session. Click here for more details.
