This week, we are starting to accept applications for the International Journalist Insurance Fund program. You can rely on our support. The work of journalists in times of war is extremely valuable, as you help the world learn the truth about the war crimes happening in our country. However, at the same time, you should feel safe and protected while performing your professional duties.
The International Journalist Insurance Fund (IJIF) is an initiative of six civil organizations: Souspilnist Foundation, the Association of Independent Regional Publishers (AIRP), the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), Detector Media, the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM), and the Regional Press Development Institute (RPDI).
Insurance coverage is available for fixers, journalists, videographers, editors, and photographers from independent Ukrainian media outlets who are officially dispatched to conflict zones, liberated territories, border areas with Russia and Belarus, front-line territories, and have personal protective equipment. Priority is given to those who have completed security training and courses in basic medical assistance.
The duration of the assignment can range from 1 to 20 days for a single journalist and videographer/editor/photographer who are members of the same team going on assignment.
The independent body of the project, the Coordination Council of the International Journalist Insurance Fund, reviews each application and makes a decision regarding insurance or rejection of the application.
In case of a positive decision, our coordinators will get in touch with you.
Please note that you should submit your application no later than 36 hours before your assignment.
