Special emphasis must be placed on the role of media and civil society in the crucial stage of deepening Ukraine’s European integration, stressed Taras Petriv, President of the Souspilnist Foundation, on the sidelines of the EuroSummit of civil organizations, which is taking place for the first time in Kyiv during Europe Day.
The meeting is organized to synchronize efforts and develop a common work vector in the process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. This cooperation can demonstrate a shared European integration success story for our country in challenging times, as underscored by Oleksandr Yarema, the state secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Over 150 representatives from civil organizations, MPs, government officials, international partners, think tanks, and media are participating in the forum.
Ukraine is actively moving along the European path, and the EU will support Ukrainians for as long as necessary, stated Stefan Schleuning, Head of the Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
After obtaining candidate status for EU membership and the decision to start negotiations in December 2023, the civil sector needs to strengthen its expertise and provide even more assistance to the government, said Volodymyr Sheihus, Executive Director of ISAR Ednannia, in his welcome speech. The first EuroSummit in Kyiv is both an effective forum and practicum.
The EuroSummit of civil organizations, organized by EasyBusiness, is held with the support of ISAR Ednannia within the Ukraine Civil Society Sectoral Support Activity project, implemented by ISAR Ednannia in consortium with the Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research (UCIPR) and the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM), thanks to the generous support of the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development, as well as in partnership with the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
