For the second year in a row, our cluster of newsroom teams contributing to the Mental Support for Media program community is spiritually enriching and growing. This sense of trust inspires and creates a special space for nurturing a culture of mental health care, because it’s not just about media, but about the heroes, viewers, and readers journalists interact with daily.
Since the beginning of 2023, over 20 newsroom teams have benefited from comprehensive support, with hundreds of representatives from national and regional media taking advantage of individual psychological counseling.
We’re particularly grateful for the trust and desire of editorial teams like The Kyiv Independent, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, Suspilne Odesa,UKRINFORM, Hromadske.ua, Espreso, Obyektyv Media Group, Gard.City, Cukr, Kordon.media, Nakypilo Media Group, Slobidskyi Krai, Bakhmut IN.UA, Vilnohirsk.in.ua, Donbas News, and all other teams that have joined the program.
Hundreds of journalists have participated in the program’s educational events, and over 400 have undergone diagnostic assessments. During this time, we’ve provided over 1,500 hours of consultations with mental health professionals and organized a series of recovery sessions for journalists working with traumatic content or in combat zones.
This support has been made possible thanks to our reliable program partners, whose circle continues to grow and strengthen, allowing us to expand our support capabilities during these challenging times for all of us.
We thank our partners for their support: Media Program, Internews Ukraine, implemented by the international organization Internews, which has provided institutional stability to the program; International Media Support (IMS); Media Development Fund Program of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
