The Souspilnist Foundation team came prepared for some sharp turns ahead. We began with an engaging check-in from the media and communications sector, skillfully and warmly moderated by Andrii Shevchenko.
The session continued with diverse yet deeply honest reflections on the state of today’s media and communications. We learned about the (not-so-)bad news about news from Kostiantyn Kvurt’s research on media consumption. We heard how Sonia Koshkina is building an entire ecosystem around her outlet—and why it is more than just a media project.
Together with Zinaida Averina, we looked behind the scenes of the People with Cardboards protest, and with Khrystyna Bondarenko, explored how Triyka suddenly burst into Ukraine’s information space. Kristina Berdinskykh shared her own rules for surviving as a freelancer, and Andrii Yermolenko showed that sometimes a poster can be stronger than words.
It was also the first Redkolehiya without Oleksii Shalaiskyi—to whose memory we paid tribute—and a conversation about media, people, and meaning, filled with unexpected turns and deeply personal insights. There was also warm networking that words can hardly capture.
