The School of Strategic Communications and Anti-Fake held in the new format

The School of Strategic Communications and Anti-Fake was held on July 18 in the new format. This time, it combined online and offline training – part of the participants joined in via Zoom.

The event was traditionally held as part of the Media Literacy University and the National Press Club. It included a series of training workshops on digital security culture, fact-checking and countering disinformation / manipulative influences.

Dmytro Tuzov, NV Radio host, used various TV stories to explain how to identify false information, manipulations and political PR in the information space. He also presented a successful case of combating fakes, using Poland’s example.

“Fake news does not always aim to convince you that the information imparted is true, it often aims to question other information”, – Polish journalist Pawel Bobolowicz noted in his interview with Dmytro Tuzov.

Olha Yurkova, a co-founder of Stopfake, spoke about ways to combat fakes and disinformation.

“This is how propaganda works: they show you only what the propagandist wants. When we hear from all corners that Ukrainians are Nazis, we may start to believe it”, — said Olha Yurkova.

The School of Strategic Communications and Anti-Fake aims to promote the development of quality journalism in Ukraine, implement media innovations and collaboration experience exchange between journalists and newsmakers through a partnership dialogue at the national and regional levels.

This event is made possible with the support of USAID Media Program in Ukraine implemented by Internews and, with the help of private patrons.
