This year, Olena Removska, a journalist at Suspilne and author of the “Removska Interview” program, was presented with a special award by Souspilnist Foundation for her special contribution to the development of journalism high professional standards.
The award ceremony took place within the framework of the National Press Club project jointly with the Media Mobility Hub Alumni Association.
In her nomination speech, the laureate noted that journalistic activity is an extremely complex and painstaking craft that requires maximum effort. However, journalism is a powerful tool for conveying the truth to the world, which is what Ukrainian media professionals are currently doing.
At the award ceremony, Andrii Kulykov, co-founder of Hromadske Radio and Chairman of the Commission on Journalism Ethics, made a visionary speech. He emphasized that journalism has changed a lot over the course of two years and keeps transforming every day, bringing new opportunities and challenges. In his opinion, it is important to practice ethics in professional work, which primarily means respecting your audience, caring for their lives, well-being, and mental health.
Olha Kruhlii, the president of the Media Mobility Hub Alumni Association, emphasized that today’s journalistic work requires special dedication and internal mobilization. And precisely, Olena Removska is a high professional with extensive experience and a role model for beginners in the profession.
Oleksandr Butsenko, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Souspilnist Foundation, who presented the award, stressed that today Ukrainian journalists, and in particular, Suspilne, are an influential factor in our identity in the fight against the aggressor, the distortion of history, and the enemy’s appropriation of Ukrainian cultural achievements, as well as a factor in shaping the strength and resilience of Ukrainians.
