The first day of the “Media Management for Youth” course was a great success! Warm words and support from Taras Petriv, president of the Souspilnist Foundation, and Tetiana Kyselchuk, media manager and course curator, inspired the participants at the start.
The participants presented their projects, demonstrating a creative approach and innovative ideas. The atmosphere was extremely motivating, as everyone had the opportunity to share their vision and receive feedback.
And of course, there was the educational part. Ivan Prymachenko, co-founder of Prometheus, talked about the strategy for achieving life goals. He emphasized the importance of setting goals to focus attention, monitor progress, and timely change strategy if the previous one doesn’t work. Ivan gladly shared some advice with the participants. He suggested having a short strategy for each goal, studying successful strategies of leaders, relying on your strengths, identifying breakthrough points for better results, and seeking mentorship for faster success.
And finding funding for strategic goals is facilitated by fundraising. Yevhen Zaslavskyi, executive director of the Media Development Foundation, talked about how to attract funds to your startup. He also shared his experience through the MDF case study. However, before diving into funding, it’s essential to address several other key considerations. For instance, start by defining the niche for your startup, assemble a top-notch team, validate the uniqueness of your idea, establish priorities, choose the exact topic, and only then proceed to seek donors.
The final chord of the day was the workshop on “format features” by Kateryna Feleniuk, producer at Suspilne, where the intricacies of creating media content were revealed. The participants immersed themselves in the world of formats and held a small brainstorming session. Kateryna emphasized that the format is not only a form of presenting content but also a media concept that takes into account the audience and distribution channels.
But this is just the beginning. Four more days of intensive learning lie ahead!
The project is implemented with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the “Media Program, Internews Ukraine” program executed by the international organization Internews Network and the “Transformation Communications” project.
