Recipes for regional resilience: what really helps to hold on

Resilience isn’t just about endurance. It’s about daily practices, decisions, and showing up for each other—especially when there’s war, anxiety, and uncertainty all around.

During one of the Forum’s conversations, regional media representatives came together to share what doesn’t always make it into official manuals—but really works in practice, in teams, in life.

Maksym Bernyk spoke with honesty: “Tell me, who doesn’t burn out? But when the newsroom is alive—that keeps you going. We talk to each other not just about work—and that helps us stay standing.”

Oleksandr Nosok reminded us of another frontline—the financial one: “In the regions, the question isn’t growth, it’s survival. We chose to adapt. Because there’s no other way.”

Polina Palamarchuk shared how the shelling brought her team closer: “My editor became a friend. Support isn’t about grand gestures—it’s about simply being there, as a human being.”

Ruslana Syvak offered simple but powerful advice: “We didn’t have retreats, but we always celebrated birthdays. And we went out into nature. That little ‘reset’ really saves us.”

The conversation also revolved around newsroom rituals, quick check-ins where the real question isn’t “what’s on air?” but “how are you?” Around support that doesn’t need loud words and taking pauses—not as a luxury, but as something normal.

It was a conversation about resilience as action. As a responsibility—not just to your audience, but to yourself. And it’s in the regions, where reality hits hardest that the strongest lessons in endurance are born.
