The School of Strategic Communications and Anti-Fake took place online on March 30.
The School provides intensive training on how to implement strategic communications in Ukraine, counter information manipulations, aggressive disinformation and fake news, avoid getting trapped in a vast array of news, promptly and correctly verify information from open sources, and identify virus campaigns by bot farms and trolls.
This time, the speakers – NV radio host Dmytro Tuzov, communications expert Inha Vyshnevska, editor-in-chief of the information campaign Behind the News Alyona Romaniuk, head of Care You program of Souspilnist Foundation Andriy Sydorenko – focused on practical cases in times of emergency and the coronavirus, in particular.
Lectures can be viewed on our FB page.
We can never learn enough – I’m convinced of that once again. It was an interesting format and another proof that media people will always find ways to continue their work.
Fear and uncertainty in society make it the easiest to manipulate. Now, when the world is in stress and anticipation, it is important for journalists to be able to respond quickly to information released into the information space. Therefore, I thank the speakers for understanding the importance of the influence of fakes on Ukrainian society’s reactions, and their advice on how to deal with them – Alina Turyshyn, participant.
The event is part of the University of Media Literacy and the National Press Club providing an educational series on the culture of digital security, fact-checking and overcoming misinformation / manipulation.
The School of Strategic Communications and Anti-Fake will promote the development of quality journalism in Ukraine, introduction of media innovations, exchange of collaborative experience between journalists and newsmakers through partnership dialogue at the national and regional levels.
