It is crucial today, especially in times of conflict, to implement European practices and share Ukrainian achievements. Representative of the Souspilnist Foundation, Elizabeth Komarova, participated in the Media Self-Regulation in a Democracy training program.
The program included several important meetings and workshops. Particularly, a meeting was held at the European Parliament with leading experts in the field of Eurointegration, discussing the agenda and action plan to bring Ukraine closer to EU membership. Special attention was given to the important role of Ukrainian media in this process.
One of the key meetings was with Professor Georgios Terzis, a Professor in Communications at the Brussels School of Governance. The discussion focused on Russian disinformation and the urgency to combat it, exploring tools to fight the enemy’s propaganda.
Workshops were conducted within the program, examining the implementation status of the Digital Services Act (DSA) in Ukraine, the role of social networks in supporting and hindering media work in spreading truth. European and Ukrainian experiences were discussed in this context. The meeting at StratCom was dedicated to discussing Europe’s tools to combat Russian disinformation and the potential threats it currently poses.
There was also a presentation of projects by participating countries. The Ukrainian team presented a project dedicated to media restoration in Ukraine during and after the war. This program is implemented with the support of the Swedish international development cooperation agency, Sida. Special thanks to partners from IMS – International Media Support.
